Literally just heard of pangolin for the first time in today’s self host email. I checked it and signed up to get started. But am I correct in assuming I can only have 5 endpoints for free? Or was I not looking at the self hosted edition?

So many good comments already. I’ll just say that I’m kind of newish to self hosting, and proxmox has been awesome. It’s been awesome to spin up a full os out just some services when I’m interested in something.
Very cool. I actually sent this to myself so I look at it later. I’ve been wanting to mess with a mail server but was super intimidated. Thank you!

Literally watched the YouTube video from click and switch that goes over replacing Spotify with this. Getting my server ready!

Thank you my friend

How does one get started with Usenet?
Wait, steam os is arch based?

Op, This is the best answer. I’ve set up a Windows server using this method. I was blown away by how easy proxmox makes the whole thing.
I use rust desk too btw when I need to remote on for maintenance, etc.

I got a friendly elec nanopi r3 that I use as a router. It routes all my Ethernet connected devices, and my consumer mesh network does all WiFi connections.
It’s basically a raspberry pi, but they do use their own flavor of os, so I just run it using a fresh image on an SD card. Works no problem and power consumption is minimal.

This is the first I’ve heard of this project, so thank you!

I say, I don’t pay for Netflix, but I’m able to stream whatever I want. I do the same with books. And audiobooks.

Honestly, I wouldn’t plan on using the steam deck for anything other than gaming. That said, I’ve been madly impressed by moonlight. Allied you to stream to any device from your gaming PC, even if 8 network. I was in a parking lot playing bg3 on a very low spec laptop with very few hiccups or studdering. Check it out!

Ha! I didn’t even realize proxmox was Debian based. Thanks!

Does that TLP work with proxmox? I was thinking about trying pm with an old Dell latitude I have, but I’m worried about the battery exploding.

My only hangup is installing repacks or modding games. It for sure works, but it’s a bigger headache. I use mint on my daily driver laptop otherwise.

Agreed. I find pretty much all of YouTube’s open source competitors have content that is primarily tech nerds and hot Russian ladies.

I mean… Would it do the same with a 3rd party screenshot app? Or even something like obs? So many ways around it, no reason to get too upset.

Honestly same, except I’ve been using jelly fin for about a year. Even with me having a Plex pass, I’m not using it.

Thank you for the context. I’ve been kind of out of the loop with Linux on general and have been using fedora… But now a question. What’s the most stable form of package and which distros use it by default? I’ve been kind of confused my the whole all image, flatpack, etc thing.
They better be! I’ve got a mix of proxmox running Windows and Linux machines, as well as a bare metal Windows machine for streaming gaming, as wells as Linux laptops to access all this.
… My only shame is using Windows server to host my DHCP server.
