  • I’ve seen you post a lot about this project, which leads me to believe that you are excited about it and want others to be excited about it too. That being said, if you want other people to be excited about your work, you’re going to have to change your approach to this project. Hopefully the feedback below is of some help.

    • When showing your program to programmers, they can generally appreciate when you are showing genuine effort to try to learn something and you say so. Your posts seem to mainly focus on bugs you’ve fixed, but not how you fixed them or takeaways you’ve made from them. For example, when I started programming in JS, I learned why strongly typed languages are easier to use - I switched something from an array to an object mid development and paid the price for doing so. You have a recent post talking about how you fixed a bug with your calculator app, but you don’t say what you did at all. Basically everybody has made a calculator app and they’re typically not very interesting. Tell us what you learned from the programming process of it and then maybe you’ll get more people’s attention.
    • Again, when showing your program to other programmers and you link to your repository (GitHub), they expect you will use it in a way that makes sense, even if it’s somewhat unconventional. The whole point of Git is to track your changes when you fuck something up while programming something at 1 AM when you definitely should’ve just gone to bed… but you just seem to be using it as an alternative to Google Drive, which doesn’t make any sense at all. Just use Google Drive if you want to host the ISO on the internet. Host your source code and let me giggle at your snarky comments, let me read through the changes you made, reverted, and got excited over in your commit messages. There are some excellent, free resources and YouTube videos that will teach you how to use Git + GitHub, and will hopefully give you a better understanding of why programmers use it over something like Google Drive.
    • Posting about this over and over again in multiple communities doesn’t make me more excited for this project, it just comes across as spam.

    Good luck!

  • Just like you, I’m crammed it in :P

I built two of these, one in 2021 for a client and another in 2023 IIRC, back when SSDs and RAM weren’t outrageously priced, so it’s got an NVMe m.2 SSD and 64 GB of RAM.

It’s got an AIO cooler, and I don’t think anything other than that or a stock fan would fit in there. It had a 3060 12 GB but it has died :/ so it’s currently got a 2060 SUPER, which doesn’t fit as well (mainly because the power port points towards the front of the case instead of up.)

With the discrete GPU and AIO cooler, I wouldn’t have been able to fit a SATA SSD in there.

Both of these were far from the most painful builds I’ve done.

  • Hey, much better this time around! And I got to be your first view on the video!

Assuming you’re still open to feedback, these are my personal takes:

    • The music doesn’t add anything. Either get a great musician behind your music or just cut it.
    • The runtime felt long.
    • If you don’t want to show your face or use your voice, that’s fine, but you need another way to make the video stand out. Maybe an editing and/or recording style that stands out and is also entertaining. This is not an easy thing to accomplish, and I, again, strongly recommend you don’t use AI to try to answer this question, since it requires creativity and that’s not its strong suit. Additionally, there’s usually a sweet spot between being unique enough to be different and “trying too hard”, which AI is also terrible at finding - it’s why entertainment is hard. I recommend you trust your gut and just try different things until you find something that resonates with people.
