At my job I’m so fucking tired of being told how to do my job with more AI. I use AI as I see fit to help with development, end of story. The manager of manual QA was told to use AI more, so what he figured out is that now we’re going to have manual testers generating code that we’ll have to look over I guess. Fun. Productive. Great.

Technology@lemmy.world•"Notepad++ for Mac" release is disavowed by the creator of the originalEnglish
6·2 days agoKate exists on MacOS? Seems like a no-brainer. I discovered it with KDE, of course, and it’s great.
Everyone has a price. My price is many many times higher than whatever money they’d make back selling my data and advertising to me.

1·4 days agoI really remember appreciating the combination of usability and portability of the 3DS’s joystick. I kinda wish there was a SteamDeck light with flat joysticks and smaller grips. Honestly, I’d love just a SteamDeck but in the form factor of a Switch. Some of my comfiest gaming sessions were on the switch in bed with the joycons detached.

Technology@lemmy.world•Notepad++ Creator Calls Out 'Fake' Mac App Over Trademark ViolationEnglish
4·6 days agoThat’s so dumb. The plus plus indicates its a new, better version of the Notepad software. Nextpad doesn’t exist, so nextpad++ makes no sense.
I looked it up, and the default text editor on MacOS is TextEdit, so why not call it TextEdit++?
I’m not sure why I’m putting in this much thought, they probably just asked AI to rename it for them.

3·7 days agoI don’t like git clients built into my IDE, my preference at the moment is Fork (though curse them for choosing that name, searching for problems with Fork is impossible)

Tube Archivist is great, as long as you don’t mind waiting a bit to watch stuff. As far as I know Grayjay is still working fine.

I also would not have come to Wilbur on my own. Gimp is a weird name, but at least it’s pronouncable. Glimpse sounds great to me tbh. A nod to GIMP, but also a sensical name.

5·19 days agoI use gimp at least weekly. The UX isn’t great imo, but I’m used to it now, and I’m sure Photoshop would boggle my mind. It also has improved quite a bit in the past years.
+2 for offering a lifetime purchase option (though it is kinda pricey)

12·22 days agoMan, all I want is square speeds. I’d be happier with 100Mbps square than I am with my current 400/40Mbps down/up, even if it was the same price. I’m a video creator and self-hoster, 40Mbps up is not enough.

Edit: I’ve used it and it is freaking good. Really good. Awesome work OP. I’ve tried to find a place to throw a few bucks your way but couldn’t, is there somewhere we can do that?

Yes. You can either have two people use the same account, or do partner sharing.
