It’s not the entire DE. You have application installed made for Gnome and that is one of its dependencies.

Yoy are doing professional video work on a PC old enough that it can’t run Windows 10?

You will be CPU bottlenecked with that CPU and a RTX 5070. Which is fine if you intend to upgrade the CPU later

Actually not that common for battery powered devices

Likely just hallucinations. For example, there is no way they would store a confidence score as a string
is this AI generated?

Based on the type of AI models IBM has published, they are betting on smaller, specialized models that can run locally or cheaper in a data center. Their strategy seems to be similar to that of thr Chinese, just for different reasons.

That’s just linux with extra steps

OpenRouter is a marketplace for AI inference

As a developer I can comment on nr 2. The last month was more chaotic than before the release because of the new bugs that were discovered from users with weird setups

I have no interest in overclocking my phone anymore, but I used to do this kind stuff too and I’m so glad its back

I think the most bang for your buck would be the Arc A380. 4 displays, 8k60 and AV1 acceleration. Not sure how good the linux support is but the drivers aren’t closed source like nvidia so I imaged it’ll be decent.
There’s always AMD ofc but I don’t think the 9000 series does anything special IO-wise. Might as well look at the cheaper 7000 series

Or if you’re in europe, Herman Miller might be overpriced, even on the second gand market. But there are loads of solid German chair brands where the same concept applies. I got good deal on an open box Interstuhl chair just before corona hit. Still looks brand new today
If it were that important to Microsoft then they should just refuse to boot without the chain of trust. I’m guessing they can’t because of backwards compatibility reasons. Maybe they will with Windows 12.
No critical part of Windows actually requires the TPM. The limitation is 99% artificial. Which is why people keep finding workarounds.
I assume you mean the 5070ti? Depends on what OS you intend to run, which games, what CPU you have (driver overhead), what the local prices are like and how much belief you have in AMD Redstone being good.

Can someone explain to me who the target group is tho? I understand FPGAs have a larger potential of emulating hardware fast. But it’s not like the chip designs for these old consoles are open source. So FPGAs are usually not cycle accurate either.

Ah yeah this is going to perform more like a 4060 and indeed does not have good upgrade options. Maybe have a look at the minisforum motherboards, like the minisforum ar900i S. Those come with soldered on laptop CPUs. So you get the power efficiency of a laptop but with full desktop connectivity. I also just did some web searches to find my power numbers. It probably varies a bit on which card, which vendor and if they measure wall power or directly from the connectors. An iGPU does consume some power but if you look at the 12W total system power of the framework desktop, only a few of those watts can be the iGPU.

Oh actually, the Ryzen AI max PCs like the Framework Desktop just about fit in your budget. Those should outperform the 8700G on every front AND use less idle power because they are often used on mobile.
