AI agents can trivially send email. I don’t know what the solution is, other than to disallow submissions from people who already have a good reputation with the project. Even that’s not a good solution, because there really isn’t a way to get a reputation that is open to humans, but can’t be easily gamed by bots.

I can’t type ctrl-z without reflexively typing bg after, so no joy there.

Normal people don’t fix computer issues. They also don’t install operating systems, so this is all a bit academic.

Seriously though, this is what break glass accounts are for. Create an account that can access your backups (preferably only the backup system) with a really long password and keep it offline in a safe place. Like a safe. Set up alerting if the break glass account ever gets used.
