Programming@programming.dev•Iroh uses noq to establish QUIC connections between endpoints.English
6·23 hours agoIP addresses change or can be unreachable (e.g. requiring NAT traversal), so this tool lets you connect two machines (P2P) using a collection of other tools and protocols like relay servers, noq, and gossip protocol. Communication is based on QUIC, the same protocol supporting HTTP/3.
I think if you do pacman -S vlc it won’t be orphan anymore though. I removed everything, if I miss something I’ll install it again.

shit, I had 150 orphaned packages
pacman -Qdtq | pacman -Rns -I made an alias for this, but IMO this cleanup should be automatic. The user didn’t install it themselves after all.

10·1 day agoThis administration can’t see a week ahead in front of them. Does anyone have doubts this will only consolidate China’s autonomy and eventual dominance in the sector?
Jesus, there’s so much FUD in that gist. A lot of information out of date and emotional tone to the brim. Makes you wonder who’s putting that much time and effort to support an outdated system like x11 and what they gain from that.
The reality is that the main desktop managers, and by extension the most popular distros are abandoning x11, so that’s just a silly hill to die on.

7·2 days agoyeah, that is pretty insane at 17k tokens per second. It feels as if answers are already cached just waiting for you to prompt.
If they manage to fit larger and more recent models in it, it could greatly improve the energy requirements to run these models.
The recent diffusion LLM from google is also really exciting, and I think they might become the new architecture of choice for these models when running on general purpose GPUs - especially consumer cards, which are usually memory constrained, but computing-capable.

2·4 days agoan investment company with ties to the government? shocking
You do what you want with your money, but selecting or not a service based on whether there’s an investment company holding a significant share on it, that happens to donate 30% more to party X over Y is a weird argument. Dig enough and you’ll run out of companies to buy things from.
