It is there for facial recognition, but yeah it wasn’t included due to lacking iOS and Desktop app. I did make a note there as to what it was missing and that there is one soon to be released.

No Ente is paid where a lot of the other options are free. It just so happened that it was the only one that covered all these specific feature sets.
This is the first version, so I expect there to be a few mistakes. Please flag and provide feedback if you notice any improvements.
Discovered some fantastic options through this research. Hopefully this guide can help you!
NextCloud is in the Other Options section! It also gets a special feature in the Photo Apps guide :)

hmm nothing… Somehow missed that one. Will included it for the next version - thanks for flagging!
Thanks for bringing them up! Good to highlight these smaller players.
You can check out Soundiiz
I see there might be some unofficial apps… But maybe ask in !PurchaseWithPurpose@lemmy.world a few Linux lovers there, that might be able to help :)
Excellent question! Qobuz should be and I believe TIDal /Deezer as well. But feel free to create a post on !PurchaseWithPurpose@lemmy.world for more exposure :)
I think it does! Although you might want to check out iBroadcast for a few extra features :)

There are a lot of privacy-focused alternatives, but not all of them are. Fastmail and Infomatrix are two excellent options that are more focused on convenience
Sorry, that is a bit confusing. The other guides have companies with that indicator. Should have removed it here though.
There are so many good choices that it is hard to showcase them all - Mailfence often gets recommended
A company is not a person. Choosing not to support a company because it ultimately benefits its home country, which is actively waging war, should be considered a negative. Whether it is enough not to use their services is up to each individual. As you said, it is a FOSS application, so if you aren’t using one of their paid plans, how much is it truly benefiting them?
Also, I don’t think this is a “insert current enemy of the West” scenario. Ukraine isn’t traditionally considered part of the West, and it has support from most countries and people worldwide (not just the West).
This thread highlights how they tried hiding their origins after the war broke out. https://forum.cryptpad.org/d/232-onlyoffice-concerns-vendor-makes-shady-moves
Thanks for this. I spend so much time on the content from guide to guide that I forget how someone reading it for the first time might interpret it.
Will update the guide and post it to !PurchaseWithPurpose@lemmy.world
If someone wants to transcribe these guides, then I am more than happy to include them!
This is the first version of this guide, so please share any feedback, and I’ll include it in the next version!
I would love to be wrong on this, as I think even without this feature, Immich is one of the best options available.
That said, I am referring to this feature: https://github.com/immich-app/immich/discussions/2836
If it has something similar, then I’ll happily consider it. To me, this is one of the more advanced (and well-liked) features of a photo app, which is why I have it there to help differentiate.
