I don’t have to give any consideration to how true this is, because I quit windows last year. It’s liberating.

I switched late last year, Linux is not (that) hard and I have not had a single problem running any games (Steam, Heroic and Lutris cover them all). Hell, I run emulators now that I never did before and I have all my Wii, WiiU, Switch, PS3 and Xbox games on my Linux machine, lol.

100%. For any fans of old out there whose Lemmy instance doesn’t support it, you can use https://o.opnxng.com/ as a proxy.

I looked because I wasn’t really sure. I upgraded late last year. The computer I’m on right now is that upgrade (based around a 5070). Before that, my last build was in 2020, but I didn’t upgrade to replace the 2020, I upgraded to add a second computer.
I could have ridden the 2020 for another 2-3 years easy. Matter of fact, looking back prior to 2020, my previous build appears to have been 2011. So yeah, I “upgrade” every 8-9 years.

‘This thing that makes almost no money is a dead end. This thing that makes money hand-over-fist is what authorities should focus on regulating instead.’
lol

Everything you said is absolutely true and thoroughly shit. It’s just a shame that the system’s solution is to now rob them of an actual education as well.
The only thing keeping America on any kind of footing at all is that exposure to classical education largely deprograms the religious bullshit most American kids grow up with. Oh, and it actually educates them, as opposed to whatever AI assisted bullshit “workers” this is going to end up giving us.
Edit: although… religion is dying here anyway, so optimistically, maybe kids these days will need the deprogramming less and AI will improve dramatically. We could theoretically end up with a net benefit.
This is apeshit stupid. I don’t expose my media to the Internet, so I’m not affected but I know what’s coming: no free users allowed at all.
Glad to see Jellyfin is more than up to the task. I only hang around on Plex for lazy reasons, but I can tell that soon enough I’m gonna have to jump ship.
