Will they though ? Me and all my nerd friends straight up ignored windows 8, I’m sure we weren’t alone. I also saw the writing on the wall with windows 11 and went with Linux for my new gaming PC

I found a fatal flaw : it’s an extremely invasive kernel-level anticheat.
I’ll take my payment in euros, thanks.
That didn’t stop them from making their God awful searchIndexer default to scanning all the disks way too regularly back then, including C:, even if it was the slowest laptop HDD on earth
Not hating on the originals but that’s not a high bar to clear. But yeah, so far I have not encountered any major bug after 3+ hours so I’d say they cleared it. DLSS is fucked up though for some reason, (I can see the actual (not upscaled) frame every 4 frame or something) which is weird because it usually works pretty well out of the box in unreal.
Yeah some softwares are also just bad at handling this stuff on startup I guess. Visual studio fucks up the code window’s scaling all the time for me. UE4 used to literally never open a window with the correct scaling on my second (smaller) monitor window too but it got a lot better with UE5
That 2nd monitor window thing sounds like a DPI scaling issue, especially if your main screen has different scaling than the one causing issues. I get this a lot at work because of my setup and the software I use (on windows btw) and I got so used to manually moving the window and smashing it against the top of the screen to maximize it that I don’t really mind. But maybe the term can help you troubleshoot it further
Works pretty well on pop!_os (with X) barring some oddities that I’m not even sure are specific to Nvidia cards (like the compositor losing its shit when I try to pop out a video from my browser and put it over a game’s window)
Do you really think that either of them are going to pay any significant amount to be the default?
I can see Bing doing it. And Google is so far gone that it would probably be an improvement
They are all bullshit, but holy fuck, how the hell were they even allowed to register the third one ?
(I’m generally not a fan of Cloudflare, because its man-in-the-middle position between users and services has grown to an unhealthy scale, making it ripe for dragnet surveillance and other abuses. But it would be even worse if it was actively helping these greedy, predatory corporations dodge the law.)
You cannot convince me that it’s not literally a NSA front at this point.
They brought that one upon themselves imo. They were privately owned for 10 years before their IPO in 2018
Turns out they do actually “nod” (to their corporate overlords)
The “without an MS account” is the hard part. Don’t you have to basically use a hidden debug feature to actually do that on install in windows 11 ? And then if it’s anything like windows 10, they might trick you into tying the OS to your account if you log into it for visual studio/office/Windows store or whatever, that happened to me on my laptop and it was a major pain in the ass to revert
Don’t assume even your own country is trustworthy in this.
My country is one of the world leaders in mass spying software development and even gave themselves the right to basically do deep packet inspections on everything going through it a long time ago, so…
They deserve to fail so fucking hard though
Honestly, as a Metroid series fan, the OG was kinda bad (but tried something that was quite new for the time). Return of Samus was ok, especially considering that it was a Gameboy game. Then Super Metroid absolutely knocked it out of the park. The only thing that feels off when playing it today are the somewhat finicky movements
I’ve never had to use it for important stuff tbh. But alongside a regex tester and a sample of the stuff I intend to use it on, I’ve had good results with an incremental approach where I tell the LLM what I want to change with the expression until I’m satisfied
All my homies hate regexs. That’s actually the best use case I found for LLMs so far : I just tell it what I want it to match or not match, and it usually spits out a decent one
Tell me about it, all the juniors were doing it at my old job, and I was usually the one tasked with fixing their shit. And since we basically didn’t do any form of mentoring (including code reviews) it was such a pain in the ass to get them to change their ways
You’re missing out. Ryzens are awesome
