I dual boot and still use Windows 10. And everything I’ve seen from Windows 11 just seems like trash to me. My mother got a new laptop about a year ago and I came along to help her set it up. With her previous laptop, I opted to not do the free update to Windows 10 because people were complaining about it at the time (and I was still on Windows 7), so she ended up stuck with Windows 8.1 for years. So this time I did opt for the free update to Windows 11 and it feels like a huge mistake so far.

Her machine is now slow and struggles to get things up and running. And every single fucking time she tries to use it, it decides to run virus scans and download and install updates all at the same time. And these updates often seem to take an entire day. The last update took two days where she could barely do anything on her laptop because it was slowing things up so much.

And that all makes the frustration add up when you come across the other fucking stupid things they’ve done. So now when you right click on the desktop there’s a few seconds where Windows needs to get its shit together to show you the new useless menu that’s been slapped on top of the old useful menu. Then you need to click ‘show more options’ for the actual useful menu. Then another few seconds for Windows to get its shit together to load that menu.

And I don’t want to load a bunch of stuff like classic shell or winaero tweaker because she’s old and just wants to play hidden object games and solitaire. So I’m going to have to come running every time something happens that she doesn’t understand. So I prefer leaving it vanilla.

But fuck Windows 11. It’s absolute fucking garbage based on my experience so far. I was going to hold out for the inevitable Windows 12 because Microsoft seem to love using their paying customers as beta testers with every second OS they release but now I’m not so sure. Hoping there will be some sort of hack to keep enterprise updates coming or something.

After the French Revolution, parliament was arranged so that the people who supported democracy and freedom literally sat on the left hand side; and all of the freeloading, self serving, bootlicking monarchists that wanted to return to rule by a king or queen sat on the right hand side.

Far right are that but more extreme. They don’t just lick boots but also the assholes of the politicians and billionaires that they worship like gods.

Fuck ICE. What the fuck are they going to do, deport from my country that isn’t the USA? This makes me feel like I start saying “fuck ICE” on the regular, just to give them more work to do with this thought police shit.

Going from my memories, use Mudkip lol. By the time it’s Swampert, you can arm it with both Surf and Earthquake and steamroll almost anything in your path. And Ice Beam gives you a nice counter to your biggest weakness too. I used to solo the elite 4 with Swampert. The only ones that give you trouble are the Ghost types that cause you to use double PP, so go prepared with Leppa berries or a pill that makes your PP go up.

animations take so long

This is my biggest annoyance with Pokemon games, personally. Everything. Takes. So. Fucking. Long. To. Get. To. The. Point. I’m pretty sure 50% of ‘gameplay’ is waiting for fucking animations and waiting for the one or two lines of text at a time to get to the actual important information after telling you about friendship and the joy of raising Pokemon for the 100th time first.

I don’t think that I would ever be able to play these games on the original hardware because being able to fast forward in an emulator is a gift from the gods.

Fuck yeah! This is one of three Windows exclusive programs that I’ve always wished was cross platform. This is definitely the most important one though because it is unmatched. There’s ways to do what Rufus does and you can get pretty close to Notepad++ with the right settings and add-ons in Kate or Geany. But I have never seen another game launcher on Linux that comes even close to Playnite.

Not just anime. As a DC comics fan over the last few years, a lot of how WB does business looks pretty fucking stupid to me too. I’m willing to bet that if I visit the DC Universe website right now, it’s still going to say something like “not available in your country but keep checking back because we’re working on it!” just like it did 5+ years ago.

And they’ve been handling (HBO) Max with same sort of ‘urgency’. So we’ll get the movies on the big screen but as far as the tie in series go, maybe they’ll make it to Netflix some time after you’ve already been spoilered everywhere you look online, in the DC fan spaces you visit.

One of the funniest things was when James Gunn shared a clip of some school kids in Philippines (I think) doing the choreographed intro sequence dance for Peacemaker along with the theme song. Before Peacemaker was even legally available there.
