I do have a SIM card for emergencies but I keep it on flight mode 100% of the time.
Fed up with Reddit so here we are.

Fair point. We usually do that with screen sharing. But then only one person can edit.

1·1 day agoIt’s all a balance between being comfortable and getting exploited. Everybody has to find their own sweet spot.

1·1 day agoUnderrated movie. It’s an accurate prediction of today’s world. And it contains electrolytes.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Dumbest excuses/stuff your family/other people told you about Privacy on the internet and degoogle?
223·3 days agoI gave up, the issue is much bigger than just privacy. Most people have no problem with having their life controlled by external circumstances and being exploited. They say that’s how life is. They don’t save money, but spend it all. They don’t start a company, but just get hired. They don’t protect their data, but give it away for free. They don’t eat healthy, but prefer to enjoy their sugar and fast food. They don’t work out, but just watch TV, consuming ads. Most people are unreasonable beyond help.
My advice is, just do your thing and let the results speak for themselves.
With all these web based office suites popping up, I wonder if anybody needs these? It seems like a solution pushed onto us that nobody asked for. Everybody I know is still using MS Office or Libreoffice and everybody seems to agree that office on mobile devices sucks.

1·5 days agoOr just use Firefox Focus
Also check your RAM for errors maybe.
That can happen in any monolithic kernel OS. So basically you have two choices: a) Microkernel OS like Redox (still alpha) b) Hypervisor OS like Qubes.

61·14 days agoDepends on what your threat model is. Sure a fully locked down mobile OS is more secure, but I also care about freedom and privacy. It’s not all black and white.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is MEGA good for privacy and if it isn't, which alternatives should I use?
12·15 days agoDepends on your security and feature requirements. I found that Mega works well for music streaming on mobile, and the E2EE is reasonably trustworthy for that use case.
I think it never got much adoption because nobody knows how to pronounce it. Has been around for many years but I’ve never seen it in action.
The only real solution is to use E2EE, which there are plenty of options for with XMPP.

This is correct. It could even be part of the application process. I would write them an email that the obvious fake one didn’t work and you’ll not put your SSN on that site for security concerns. Especially not in the application phase. If they reject you for that you have dodged a bullet.
