hdr works i believe (i don’t use it, like it, so not sure) and if i understood correctly, vrr won’t work in kernel 7.2 either

I’ve been using linux with 4k120 tv with amd gpu for about half a year. dp to hdmi 2.1 cable works without issues.

recently tried every single one there and none worked. most of them would not load the show i tried to see and the ones that would load up, showed some completely random video.

it still can only fetch a few channels. something weird is afoot

my new ps4 controller also does only about 6-8 hours, but that’s with vibration turned on

nah i used mint for years with nvidia, it got good at least a couple years ago. i still have a thinkpad with nvidia running ultramarine, and i haven’t thought about the drivers even once after installing.

on the dumber side of the fence, sister was complaining about nvidia drivers being shitty on winslop, now she switched to amd and the drivers are way shittier.

i also used smb share with a mini pc, but then i learned about jellyfin and that’s been pretty solid

then there’s me, pirating for the last 20 years, but just a couple years ago switched from utorrent to qbit, still finds 99% of my stuff from 1337x, can’t be arsed to learn what trackers even are.

i have a macbook pro at work and before the update a couple days ago the last time i had rebooted it was also at least 3 months ago

i looked up multiple guides to enable flatpaks and all i achieved was that i could install them from terminal, but the apps never actually appeared so i couldn’t run them.
took me a while to realize the default store is snap only, but i couldn’t install another store either (can’t remember why). if i wasn’t so pissed i probably could’ve figured it out, but steam not working was too much of a dealbreaker that it wasn’t worth the effort

yes it has had windows in its previous life, it’s lenovo p1 and i think gen 3. performance is quite ok though

i left mint about half a year ago, after using it for over two years. i distrohopped during that time, i must’ve done like 7 clean installs and the issue persisted. weirdly though, it doesn’t happen on my media pc. it has crapped itself a few times but it always seems to suspend just fine. no idea what it is about my desktop that causes a wakelock, but ultramarine works just fine. I’d like to go back to mint just because i like cinnamon more…

has mint finally fixed the bug where autosuspend and monitor suspend stop working? the only reason i don’t wanna touch it anymore, troubleshooting that almost drove me nuts

i don’t recommend ubuntu anymore. recently tried it on my laptop and holy hell it’s bad. couldn’t install flatpaks and the only way to install from repo was to use terminal. couldn’t get any version of steam to work at all. and I’ve been a linux user for years now…

also for some reason mint wouldn’t install on the same thinkpad, the installer wouldn’t boot at all, just gave some grub message. also fedora was no success, the usb media wasn’t recognized. ultramarine finally worked even though it’s just fedora with tweaks. some say it’s a bad thing to have tons of distros, but for me it’s been a blessing. one distro won’t work for every pc.

stole it? i bought every piece of it new a long time ago and assembled it myself, and i had a legitimate win8 licence that i upgraded to 10, for which i downloaded the installer directly from microsoft

when i first switched to linux, i kinda took a little bounce. had some little annoyances in nobara and went back to win10. but when i saw my school logo in the start menu and it said somewhere that my school is the administrator on that pc, i went right back. that was creepy af, all i had done was sign in on ms office.
