What really caught my attention was that in the update of today, the rsync package maintainer had to announce that he/she was jumping to version 3.5 because of “33 CVEs” … how can a software like rsync that has been around for so long have 33 CVEs shipped in just one update. I’m not a software developer but that sounds like a lot of CVEs?
And then make it availble to all, announce it here a get harassed for vide coding :-)
Yes, indeed this does tick my boxes. Thanks.
So this rrsbridge lets you add website and then it feeds it to you as an rss stream? That sounds intersting. Mat have to look into it.
I guess this is part of the problem. Hardware costs are ridiculous a.t.m. i’ll have to see what i can find on ebay.
I secon running docker apps on a Proxmox VM. It has saved my homlab admin time significantly.
Heliboard is seen as maleware by mu bank apps … annoying …
So i was thinking about this from a dns perspetive. If you have a dns forwarder can you not configure it to ensure that emails from the local smtp server never leave tour lan?
This will be my car if it ever gets to the market … https://www.tuecomotive.nl/our-family/aria/
Does this mean that all new cars come with esims or sim cards. Who pays the bill of the network operator?
Apparently is Shinobi CE (Community Edition) which is licensed under GPLv3 but no longer maintained and Shinobi Pro (current codebase) under a “Shinobi Open Source Software License Agreement”. From what I understand though the source code is still fully available and inspectable. The Shinobi licence simply puts restrictions on it’s use (i.e. they want to monetise for commercial deployment). Quite clearly they are competing with BI as you say. They must have a unique selling point I hope … It means that only Frigate is truly open source/free software.
Ok, probably came across it at some point but just now was browsing the website, which appears to be more user friendly. It appears to have a docker option and a dedicate mobile app. Based on website features content seems to be quite mature. https://shinobi.video/features
There seems to be a commercial entity behind it. The licence seems to be ad hoc https://gitlab.com/Shinobi-Systems/Shinobi/-/blob/dev/LICENSE.md
Not sure this becomes closed/payment only at some point or whether it has closed source blobs.
Sounds like Frigate is the olny open source NVR out there then …
Ah, yes, the small detail i was missing … BI is not open source. I had forgotten.
Many many years ago.i tried MotioEye it seemed half decent with a RasPi camera. Anyone tried recently?
Because you can’t get it working or because you think BI is better? And if the latter, can you expand on the “why”?
Yes, i’m sure there is a lot more to yjis but i also bet nobody asks these questions to start with.
But if has all these issues, why is it so popular, and more importantly, hoe come the developers are not improving the image? Is it because its too complex?
This is a massive problem here too. Schools create these google accounts where teachers share work, etc. Its as if only google existed. How can we teach our kids to be openminded? I praise the suposedly young person that posted. Not all young people understand the threats of lockins.
Yeah, immagine a future where robots hunt human so that they can extract their brains and connect them to biological datacentres. Get 8 billion brains wired together and you have the most powerful datacentre in the world. ;-)
btw, thanks for those that made some good suggestions. I found farmOS and OpenFarm in the meantime which are not exactly for a garden. but my garden is big :-) almost 1 hectare … includes olive tree plantation (70), vegetable garden, dogs, chickens and and soon, when I retire, goats. so maybe not far from a little farm.
