21·16 days agoPlease don’t, unless it’s a toggle in the menu like with the Renpy engine. I don’t want to watch a long cutscene that I know by heart just because I’m playing on a new thing without my local saves.

2·16 days agoWhat Sekiro type mechanics? It basically has nothing outside of the timed combat mechanics which are far from unique amongst various games, hell I’m pretty sure Jedi Academy which has combat mechanics closer to Daggerfall or Mount and Blade had a timed party mechanic though I could never figure it out.
Do yourself a favor and look at the tags for a game before playing it. Looking at the steam page it has both story rich and JRPG as tags, this is basically tag speech for long fucking cutscenes.

9·16 days agoCould be worse, could be a marathon run of the Metal Gear series with a ban on skipping cutscenes. Also the fuck did you expect from an aggressively French JRPG style game, FFS JRPGs are defined by their cutscenes.

3·1 month agoThe problem with AI is largely the data center shit. Nobody has a problem with Josh pissing around with a learning algorithm to detect when to run his air conditioner optimally, what people are pissed about is building fuck off worthless data centers for bullshit thats almost certainly not worth the corpo hype.
Obviously they aren’t completely worthless, there is worth in them being liquidated and sold off.

4·1 month agoWe may not remove it completely but we could definitely limit or even wipe out AI data centers even on just a municipal level. Limits on resources used and strict permit requirements would be enough to shit can them in a variety of ways.

2·1 month agoEarly access version of ATOM RPG was pretty damned close. I’m talking way back when it was the first world map or so when going to death tunnel would crash my game if I entered and exited it enough because of an infinitely respawning rat.
Mind you that was pretty early in it’s development but it very well could’ve stayed in polished form of that and still been good.

4·1 month agoSure but the problem is that distinguishing between a shitty asset flip and a proper game that is just using generic assets is moreso a matter of effort. There is basically no way to distinguish the two short of actually playing it, which is different from tracking say AI which is pretty objective in it’s separation. The only tag that could work is a “strong usage of generic asset” but that doesn’t really distinguish between say a shitty asset flip and a game that is a generic asset flip in everything but it’s writing.

8·1 month agoProblem is there are legitimately good games that do this, usually ones that focus exclusively on writing but still. At that point it’s better to let the reviews handle it.

4·2 months agoMakes sense, even just for playing old games it’s more optimal. Be it for graphics, load times, or just multiplayer if you want to play a game from say the Xbox 360 PS3 era its probably better to just get the game on PC. Also given how much of a relative flop the current console generation has been yeah…

That’s honestly probably the most rational thing he does.
