It’s the same guy.
how dare you to assume it´s gender?
/s
Jokes on you, they’re the same person
As it should be.
plot twist: its the same person
except they don’t identify as a person anymorre
I support their journey into systemhood 😌
Same here. I have a ThinkPad, and don’t identify as a person. It just happens that I’m not a femboy (to my knowledge)
I can’t relate ; I’ve never had a think pad
This is either really transphobic or really trans positive :p
I’m not even trans, I just like the aesthetic and these socks help me program better
Men may not like it, but this is the ideal IT body.
…this honestly checks out entirely
Wait I always supposed that those sock pictures were from girls…
They often are :3
They are
Shit… One of my coworkers is giving me one of these to play with…
Guess I’m ordering the socks this weekend…
glhf :3
I love this meme but I always wonder what they’re doing with Linux, like if I had an old thinkpad I think I’d only be as creative as to play movies in VLC 😔
Polishing dotfiles for the color schemes and vimrc. Version controlling those dotfiles. Using neovim to edit the dotfiles configuring neovim. Scripting the tiling wm to open neovim in a way that fits editing the neovim config. Configuring ansible to be able to deploy the neovim dotfiles quickly from codeberg after reinstalling arch because it’s the weekend and the kernel had some bloat parts so the whole system felt wrong.
Ive got an old network that eol got a bunch loaded with n64 and ps1 rims on it.
Using it for learning about cyber security mostly. Reading, browsing, just laptop stuff aside from that.
Contributing to opensource libraries that make the whole tech field not collapse.
With mine, I’m working on a few things:
- Getting better at CLI, specifically tmux and helix. I’m ok at it now, but could use the practice.
- Learning Rust. It’s nice to not have distractions when I want to focus.
- Experimenting with some alternative OSs. I’m extremely conservative with my main machine, but I don’t really care about these laptops.
- Enjoying simplicity.
My boss gave me 5 free T-420s. They all run Mint now.
(* They are both the same person)
Business up top. Party down below.
w life changing decisions
Heh, I have the arch sticker on that exact spot too:
Ahh, the classic Firefox logo. How old is that sticker?
Also an old KDE logo. New, I just prefer the older logos.
what are the two things that are on top of thr arch linux logo and the bash logo?
(the rest i alr know)
(i may be using too much linux)
I am not sure what you mean by the 2 things, since there’s just one, and above one of the Bash logos is just Linux and Fediverse.
I’ve labeled them:
Have you found any good projects for meshtastic? I got some hardware to tinker with but have a little let down so far. I love the idea though.
That fox witch sticker is awesome, where did you get it?
The image comes from xenia.chimmie.k.vu, but it’s down for a while now :(
It’s archived on https://web.archive.org/web/20250524013830/https://xenia.chimmie.k.vu/
Description from the site:A vector drawing of Xenia with a witch hat, colorful broom, purple skirt, shoes and t-shirt along with the green “Linux” logo. She’s having a purple hair and the glasses. The background is fading from light purple to dark deep one. Licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Made fully in Inkscape.
Thank you!
Uhh… I just picked up a pair of old Thinkpad x130e and have a put Linux on them. If I run Debian instead of Arch and keep the sticker collection small can I avoid having to find socks like that in my size?
No
Might need a different colour. But distros are inclusive, so no worries.

I just bought a T580 from eBay. When do the socks and skirt arrive?
Need to install Arch first and, of course, tell everyone about it. One morning they will just appear on your doorstep. Happened to me, and everyone else I know.
I installed EndeavourOS. Does that count?
Yes, but the colour of your clothing will be pre-selected for you in a very opinionated matter.
7th or 8th gen Intel?
You mean stockings and kilt don’t you?
It’s offered to you when you subscribe to Estrogen services
I call bullshit. You’re telling me they’re choosing some bullshit knockoff cherry red crap over arguably one of the best laptop keyboards ever created?
That’s AI man.
Red is crap. Gotta go blue or clear.
Well if we’re talking switches, get with the kailh box dark yellow and feel the burn.
Alps
I’ll allow it.
Alps and Topre are the best.
I really want to try a topre keyboard but I haven’t come across one cheap or free yet and they’re so expensive usually
NIZ makes pretty good Topre clones that sell for around 200 $.
Mechanical switches? Ugh, brother, ugh, what’s that brother?
Ascend with me to hall effect switches
I went all in on magnetic analog keys. Everything can be joystick now.
Who the fuck buys a keyboard? I usually get free ones from relatives.
People who are not poor
I’m in the remnants of middle class (in Slovenia, but still), but am still a student, so no disposable income.
Yeah hall effect is cool, but I demand a good old fashioned crack or pop sound when I hit a key. Typing should sound like armies of beetles with swords fighting.
hall effect switches
Is that another term for optical switches?
No, another term for magnetic switches
Not trans, but soon I’ll also have a ThinkPad, where can I get stickers for it? I’m looking into Manjaro instead of Arch though.
Manjaro is kinda crappy tbh, I’d recommend EndeavourOS or CachyOS instead.
Groupthink.
My personal experience with it but aight.
where can I get stickers for it?
wherever stickers are sold?
You can find those kind of sticker packs on ebay and other shopping sites.(Goes for around 2 - 10 US bucks) You can also custom print your own ones (Usually hella ton cheaper)
Careful, owning a second hand thinkpad comes with programming socks
mint?
No KDE based version to my knowledge, did like the XFCE version save for it being broken when used with KDE apps like Kate.
Manjaro my beloved
That reminds me that I have a stack of Vista era laptops (and one Win 7) gathering dust. I should find something to do with them.
I use an old laptop as a Pi-hole, personally.
I’ve thought of doing it, but the power draw wouldn’t be reasonable.
You could try salvaging any good components to try and reuse for another project, maybe strip any RAM, drives, etc… to use in a storage bank.
I have seen some unique project ATX motherboards that have SODIMM slots on them
I’ve already taken the RAM and SSD for my home server, but I don’t think I can use much else. Not much of a hardware guy. I’ll happily send it over to anyone if they paid for shipping (I’ll even add some old RAM). Some screws are stripped, so the chassis doesn’t close properly, but if those are replaced, it can be a perfectly usable laptop with some RAM and SSD. It’ll be better than just dumping it.
