Dune Awakening had sooo much potential but they could not make simple changes to make the game 10 times better and that resulted in a player exodus once the story completes.
- First person mode
- pvp arena or matchmaking not involving deep desert
I didn’t mind the game being difficult, but there were so many bugs and unexplained mechanics that could wipe out large amounts of progress unexpectedly. It was disappointing.
Who doesn’t love losing a bike to quicksand that had 0 explanation?!
Or getting kicked out of the game while flying a copter over the Deep Desert, and logging back in to find myself in quicksand and the copter stuck inside a cliff. Great times!
The way the game treats players time as something you can just throw in a dumpster was really… a choice that was made. I really wonder if the higher ups actually played the end game at all, it was miserable.
So another live service thing biting the dust? Paint me surprised.
I read some reviews and one of the downsides I read was that people would lose progress with their “bases” if they weren’t logging in every X amount of hours. Also heard it was full of micro transactions, gacha style game.
Your base and vehicles disintegrate slowly with exposure to the elements. I never saw any gacha mechanics, though.
Also you’ve got essentially a month before the degredation begins, and another month before it destroys anything
