Maybe try it in CachyOS and see how that goes, though it looks like Bazzite and Fedora-based shenanigans perform fine. However, after checking ProtonDB, it looks to be a Proton issue, and since seeing that you’re utilizing similar specs to mine (I have an R9 5900X), I wonder if it’s a DRM issue for RE7.
That’s a fair assessment, I’d say. I didn’t catch the 8ms polling nonsense. I wouldn’t recommend the Basilisk V2 either, despite a 1kHz poll rate, as the scroll wheel becomes garbage after a couple years of use.
I don’t think the Razer Basilisk V2 is light, but it is very good for my needs when using Linux… despite the scroll wheel turning to trash. It’s 20k DPI, as I happened to do competitive gaming.

That’s because people don’t really learn which operating systems work well for NVIDIA drivers. I’d recommend Mint, Pop_OS!, Nobara Project and CachyOS based upon their experience with computers. Those all work well with NVIDIA.
They did release Open Kernel drivers, which I hadn’t tested. Those are the “open-source” drivers. Sure, their firmware could be proprietary (though I didn’t see any issues with it).
Just don’t use a monitor that’s DRM’d for Windows only. I made that mistake with an FI27Q-SA (AORUS monitor) once, and that was a $600 US waste.
On X11 you do (I think some distros ship it). Otherwise, that’s not necessarily the case on Wayland.
